Higher Education

For Students, Teachers and Trainee Teachers

  1. Open introductory discussion on where the students or teachers are at in their own professional  and creative development – what they want/need and what they’re hoping to gain from the session.
  2. Hands on, collaborative and fully immersive workshop demonstrating my working methods with mixed media. Using music and live examples of my own paintings, we focus primarily on intuitive responses and experimentation with collage and layering, colour and line, composition and pattern.
  3. Presentation of personal experience as a practicing artist and teacher/facilitator in the arts, highlighting the importance of: a) maintaining one’s own creative practice; b) sharing stories and ideas for ‘making it’ in the arts and education; c) collaboration and inclusivity.
  4. Individual student tutorials on request.
  5. Potential to visit artist’s studio and exhibition space.

What’s Been Said

“Sara has been an inspiration to students on the BEd Art and Design specialist pathway at Plymouth University bringing ‘fresh eyes’ to approaches that engage learners in developing visual art processes. What the art education students really like is Sara’s practical, ‘hands-on’ approach to workshops led with energy and enthusiasm! How exciting to be learning through actively exploring art and design practice together with Sara and in new and creative ways while developing an understanding of her colourful and innovative mixed-media artwork.”
